Mike proposed on Halloween with a specially carved pumpkin that said “Will You Marry Me?” Their couples costume of ‘Thing 1’ and ‘Thing 2’ quickly changed into a “This guy loves his fiance” shirt”. Holly and Mike’s first date was at the Red Parrots restaurant in Newport. When it came time to look for venues, the happy memories of their first dinner together came rushing back and a seaside Rhode Island wedding was a sure thing. After just one visit, it became clear that Castle Hill Inn was their perfect venue.
Using Pinterest as their mood board, the couple designed a preppy nautical wedding focusing on the New England staple color of wedding for all seasons, navy, and rustic nautical elements like their table numbers. What used to be identification numbers on docks got a unique new life as table numbers for this seaside wedding. Rather than going with a chronological sequence, each of the table numbers was a number significant to their relationship. They used a boat as an escort card display and a lobster trap as a card basket.
