Hi Everyone!

Welcome to our wedding planning journey!!  Jared and I are so excited to have been selected as the 2019 Couple of the Year! Over the next year we will be sharing all aspects of our personal wedding planning process with you, from the good, the creative, the stressful, ugly—nothing held back!

My name is Jacqueline Dufault, I was born and raised on Aquidneck Island, Rhode Island. My family has all been Rhode Islanders for more than 5 generations, so it was important to us that we kick off the rest of our life together by getting married in Rhode Island! My Fiancé, Jared Schumer, was born in Long Island, NY and moved to Boca Raton, Florida when he was just a baby— which is where we now live together.

Jared and I met in October 2011 when we started working at the same restaurant. I had moved to Florida only two months earlier, to attend Florida Atlantic University.  We began dating a few months later when I was 18 and he was 23. Fast forward 6 great years later and we have purchased our first home, have two perfect dogs, established careers and are now getting married!

For our 5th anniversary & my college graduation, we planned a highly anticipated trip to travel around Europe for a month. One of the first nights we were there, we splurged on a beautiful vineyard villa in San Casciano in Val di Pesa. We wanted to make it the most romantic part of our vacation, all you could see was rolling green hills for miles, it was beyond romantic, but it only got better!

The next morning, we had planned for a private sunrise hot air balloon ride over the hills of Tuscany. Jared had told me to not bring any jewelry on the trip and he did not even bring his watch, so I was pretty convinced (but still hopeful!) that there would not be a ring on my finger by the end of the trip, but I was wrong! It was the most perfect moment ever and a true surprise when he proposed to me. He was clearly a little nervous while getting down on one knee in the tiny basket of the hot air balloon, which made it that much better. He asked me to be his wife right after sunrise. I am not even sure that I let him finish before saying yes, we were both shaking!

We enjoyed about an hour more of the balloon ride over the beautiful green hills and neither of us could stop smiling, for even a second. When we landed, they brought us to a little farmhouse and they had already set up a private breakfast in their garden with champagne, cheeses, pastries, freshly picked figs, and there were even 5 puppies running around! I cannot even imagine a more perfect, romantic moment.

We did not even wait until we got back from our trip to start gathering information to begin planning the wedding. We decided that day that we wanted a two-year engagement and wanted to aim for the date of September 7, 2019, which is now officially our wedding date! Before we even started the planning we made a list of elements that we wanted to focus on bringing out in our planning.

  • Big (about 200 people)
  • Classic and timeless, but not necessarily traditional
  • Secret garden vibes
  • Formal but personable and fun
  • Tons of greenery
  • Romantic and dreamy

We can’t wait for you to follow along with us to see how we make these elements come to life, with choosing our venue, vendors, attire, and so much more! This is truly our dream coming true!  Whether you are a couple who is planning your own wedding, you’re a dreamer who cannot wait for your own big day, or you are just here to follow along and support us, thank you!
