Fig and Fern- A Fall Styled Shoot at the Green Animals Topiary Gardens

This perfectly fall styled shoot took place on a bed of perfectly colored fall leaves from a 100-year-old Copper Beach Tree on the grounds of Green Animals Topiary Gardens in Portsmouth, RI.  The inspiration was the concept of embracing juxtaposition.  Fruit and florals, soft and edgy, romantic and boho.  The handcrafted farm table from Newport Tent is a unique take on the farm table with uniquely sculpted table legs.  G L A S S Event Planning paired the sturdy table with clear acrylic chairs from PEAK event services, playing off the juxtaposition of the classic wooden farm table and modern dining chairs.  The chairs also disappeared in a way allowing the table design to be the true focal.

Florals: Embracing the slow flowers movement, Christina Flower Co. used local, seasonal and foraged materials as much as possible.  The florals for this photoshoot were foraged from personal gardens and the figs and Merlot grapes were hand-picked from local sources.

Table elements: Elizabeth, of GLASS Event Planning, hand frayed the edging to give the linen placemats a unique look as they acted as each guests’ place card.  She asked Becca Joas of Becca Joas Calligraphy to hand write each guests’ name to extend the length of the placemat for a whimsical look.  Each place setting was paired with modern black flatware from PEAK event services offsetting the softness of the floral and whimsy of the placemat.  The colored edged glassware added a warm tone to the tablescape.

The Model: The model wore a two-piece Jenny Yoo BHLD dress and for an unexpected edge, a silk and willow fern tattoo. The Cake: Our cake was not traditional in that it was a cake layered with wheels of cheese. Christina Flower Co accented it with a show-stopping café au lait dahlia and some hand-picked fruit. The Invitation: The invitation suite was crafted from handmade silk and willow paper with custom calligraphy and vintage postage.
