#Giving Tuesday 2017

This year for Giving Tuesday we wanted to give a shoutout to just a few of our favorite locally based non-profits! Whether your heart connects most to children, pets, or vets, Rhode Island has plenty of meaningful organizations that are making an impact on the community. Take a moment away from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and give back to the organizations that support our communities!

Potter League for Animals

Based in Middletown, RI just a few miles from downtown Newport, The Potter League for Animals is the heart of the humane community in Newport and in partnership with that community, the Potter League for Animals is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of animals. They promote the humane treatment of all animals and provide shelter and care for lost or unwanted companion animals. Through education, commitment to a standard of excellence in the care of animals, and fostering relationships between people and animals, they enhance the animals’ lives and enrich the human experience. We worked on a photoshoot with the Potter League earlier this year and just fell in love with their compassionate staff and of course, the sweet animals who needed a new home! Learn about the ways you can support the Potter League here and get involved with some 2 or 4-legged friends!

Confetti Foundation

In January 2014 the Confetti Foundation started supplying birthday party kids to children who spend their birthdays in the hospital. Born out of a combination of personal experiences and generous hearts, the Confetti Foundation provides joy and a semblance of normalcy to children and families going through tricky medical issues. Through the party kids, children of all ages are celebrated and honored on their special day. Learn how you can give, whether it be a gift, a donation, your time, or your voice, the Confetti Foundation appreciates it all!

Sail to Prevail

Each summer, approximately 1,500 people with disabilities learn the skills of sailing in Sail to Prevails fleet of uniquely adapted, 20-foot sailboats. Their programs strongly encourage disabled individuals to be active participants by steering the boat and trimming sails. The measurable outcomes demonstrate increased self-confidence in all parts of the new sailor’s daily lives, the camaraderie of teamwork, and improved leadership skills. Their tagline of “Overcoming adversity through therapeutic sailing” gets right to the point. We love how Sail to Prevail has taken sailing, an event typically inaccessible to many,, and made it something everyone can be part of. Learn how you can support this organization here and help them continue to offer this unique opportunity to everyone that asks to join!
