Colleen and Scott braved one of the coldest days of the year for their beautiful OceanCliff wedding on February 13, 2016. The couple shared their beautiful wedding pictures with us and Colleen share this story of how they met, fell in love, and got married.
“Scott and I met when were 25 at a bar in Fenway Park after attending a game with friends. A simple bumping into each other and a quick hello turned into a conversation which led into a relationship. We quickly hit it off and formed a great connection. We were living about an hour apart at the time, and continued to date for the next few years, both of us traveling from Foxboro to Medford and vice versa to see each other on the weekends. We were both navigating our mid twenties at the time, myself in grad school for teaching and Scott joining his family business. We both felt that in each other, we had found our missing piece to the puzzle that was our lives. Scott proposed on February 13, 2015. A blizzard-like storm prevented our planned weekend trip to Portland, so we enjoyed a quiet weekend being snowed-in in my Medford apartment. It was one of the best weekends we’ve had! As we started thinking about planning our wedding, we thought about all of the weddings we had recently attended in the previous summer/fall, and several upcoming weddings we had to attend. We also thought about how intimate and cozy it felt being with the ones you love in the winter, and decided on a winter wedding. We we started venue hunting, we thought about how most weddings we attended have been in Boston or the Berkshires (my hometown). In hopes of being different, we decided on Newport, RI. We immediately fell in love with OceanCliff, and thought it only appropriate to wed on February 13, 2016, a year from being engaged. That date would be a holiday weekend for our guests, who could make a weekend getaway trip out of our wedding weekend.
All of our planning led to our perfect wedding on February 13, 2016. We both recall waking up and feeling like it was Christmas morning. We also both remember waking up absolutely freezing, as it was literally the coldest and windiest day in February (and probably of 2016). The cold and wind made for some very interesting and wild wedding proofs, but we were brave and ended up getting some great outdoor shots. There was the most beautiful sunset on our wedding day, which set perfectly at the time where our guests entered the dining room for dinner. All in all it was the most perfect, beautiful day. I enjoy looking back on it and am happy to share our wedding story with you.” – Colleen
