Lindsey and Dave's Regatta Place Wedding | The Newport Bride

Lindsey and Dave’s Regatta Place Wedding

Lindsey and her now husband Dave met through his cousin. She is a hairstylist right outside of Boston and Dave’s cousin was one her of her clients. Lindsey had been doing the cousins hair for years. Lindsey had mentioned that she saw a picture her client posted on Facebook of Dave and said she thought he was cute. The client told Dave, he checked out Lindsey’s Facebook and they set up a date. Social media really is the modern match maker! Their first date was on a Thursday night, and Dave promptly asked Lindsey out for the following Thursday night. They have been inseparable ever since! The first date was full of laughs and endless conversation and their life together has been the same.

They choose to say their vows at the beautiful Regatta Place. You couldn’t get much closer to the water with this beautiful dock-top wedding venue. With Lindsey and Dave’s beautiful venue, stunning florals, and perfect photography, their day was perfectly captured for us to see. Hope you love it as much as we do!

Stephanie and Tim's Atlantic Beach Club Wedding | The Newport Bride

Stephanie and Tim’s Atlantic Beach Club Wedding

Birthdays are the best. Especially if your name is Timothy Lynch. Out with friends for his 23rd birthday, he saw this cute girl at the bar. Little did he know, he had just met his future wife. A senior at Boston University, Stephanie was out with her roommates. When Tim approached her asking to share a birthday drink, she made him show his license to make sure it was his birthday. A girl can’t just give out birthday drinks you know. After the meet cute makeshift date, Tim asked for her number and they talked for the next month while she was home in Wayne, NJ for winter break. After the holidays, Stephanie and Tim had their first real date and the magic started. Inseparable ever since, they moved in together after Stephanie graduated. 2 Years later Tim proposed and Stephanie of course, said yes!

Top Bridal Makeup Techniques

NewportBride2015(134of167)

Didn’t you just love Lyndsay‘s tips for better bridal makeup? We did! We loved them so much we got her to share her favorite bridal makeup techniques. See if these give you ideas for your bridal makeup.

  • Airbrushing: Flawless, long lasting coverage. Perfect for concealing and evening out skin discoloration while producing an all over glow. I like to use silicone foundations like Temptu S/B to give the skin radiance while still covering imperfections. Airbrush makeup can also be used for tattoo coverage as well!
  • Individual Lashes: Create extra definition of the eyes while giving the lashes a fanned out, feathery look without the problems that strip lashes can produce. Unlike a lash strip, individual lashes are lighter on the eye and wont pop off and poke you through the night. Your guests wont know you are wearing falsies, only that your lashes look amazing!
  • Priming Your Canvas: A good primer and setting spray are so important to keep your wedding look lasting all night. My go to products for this are Skindinavia’s The Makeup Primer spray and The Makeup Finishing Spray. The primer creates a smooth barrier between the skin and makeup, reducing redness and pores so your makeup sits beautifully on the skin. I cant finish a bridal makeup without The Makeup Finishing Spray: Bridal. It helps the makeup resist oil and moisture while working to keep your makeup looking fresh for 16 hours. I swear by these sprays to keep my looks fresh throughout the day.

Check out her website Lyndsay Simon Beauty for her full portfolio and to see these tips in action.

The Makeup behind the Magic

Now that you’ve seen all the looks from our styled shoot at Hotel Viking, it’s time for the makeup secrets. Makeup artist Lyndsay Simon created the looks and gave us the deets in a behind the scenes interview.

Leila

For Leila’s look I wanted to give her really fresh radiant skin, with a soft contoured eye. This look goes perfectly with her girly and fun dresses. I massaged Embryollisse Lait Creme and Anti-Age Re-Densifying Serum into her skin and followed with Makeup For Ever Ultra HD foundation to ever her complexion. I popped on NARS Orgasm cream blush with my fingers to the apples of her cheeks, and illuminated the high points of her face with MAC Soft and Gentle highlighter. Her eye look is softly contoured with the Viseart Matte Neutral palette and a champagne Inglot loose pigment. To finish her look, I applied my favorite bridal lip color, Inglot #63 lip paint, a gorgeous combination of a lipstick and a gloss, for a creamy pop of pink to match her cheeks. For her second look, her dress was more simplistic, so I went with a rose-toned lipstick to warm up her look.

Joanna

Joanna’s first dress has a very bohemian feel, and I wanted to bring that relaxed essence into her makeup while still bringing fourth the glamour aspect that she loves. Her skin is more on the matte side with some light contouring to bring out her gorgeous cheekbones. I always use a cream foundation one to two shades darker and cooler than the skin to mimic the shade of natural shadows on the face. I rimmed Joanna’s eyes with Inglot #77 black gel liner to define her eyes and smoked it out with some matte brown shades with a pop of bronze pigment on her lid. I love the sex appeal the smokey eye gave to the look, and so did she! We finished the look off with a rosy matte lip and cheek to pull the whole look together.

Sarah

Sarah’s first dress had a vintage-feel to it. I gave her a very sleek winged liner to bring the retro glamour into her makeup. I placed a cream colored eyeliner into her lower water-line to brighten her eyes up, which is one of my favorite tricks to make the eyes look bigger. To add more definition to her eyebrows, I carefully drew individual hairs into her brow with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz is Medium Brown for a very natural way to add fullness to the arches. With her first dress, I lined and filled her lips in with Cherry lipliner from MAC and powdered over a tissue to keep from smudging or kissing off. For her second dress, a very detailed pink and cream gown, I applied a glossy, cool-toned pink Lip Paint from Ingot. It isn’t a typical bridal color, but the dress had so much character, I had to add a little more sass into her makeup look.
