Adrienne and Patrick – A Chanler Wedding

Newport is often thought of as the home to large and glamorous, over-the-top weddings. While there are plenty of venues that can accommodate lavish affairs for 200+ guests, there are also venues designed for a more intimate affair. Today’s couple had just such an event in mind.

Adrienne and Patrick met at a Starbucks in Pennsylvania where she is a lobbyist for a non-profit organization and he is a physical therapist. Both outgoing and friendly, they struck up a conversation and as the saying goes, the rest is history.

The couple first visited Newport on a weekend getaway for the Chowder Festival. Not yet engaged, the charm of the city by the sea captured their attention and after a morning spent on Cliff Walk they decided they would get married in Newport. A few months later the couple was enjoying jazz at their favorite Friday night spot in Hershey Pennsylvania when the band started playing their song, Stay With You by John Legend. Patrick asked Adrienne to dance and after a minute got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life by his side.

The couple knew they wanted an intimate wedding and The Chanler seemed like a perfect fit. Over looking Cliff Walk and First Beach, the hotel’s veranda seemed like a perfect ceremony spot for their 25 guests including, parents, siblings, grandparents, four of her best friends and five of his. Adrienne and Patrick love good food and The Chanler’s award winning restaurant Spiced Pear allowed guests to order right off the menu, a perfect choice for this laid-back food loving couple.

Laid back does not mean careless, the couple put just the right amount of effort into their wedding. They kept the decorations minimal, and the food plentiful. There were no attendant, everyone there was already a best friend! For her jewelry, Adrienne wore her mother’s pearls and her grandmother’s Tiffany wedding band that all her cousins have worn on their wedding day. These sweet details made the day unique and showcases the couples love and respect for family history.

On March 28, 2015 as a light snow fell, the couple said their vows on The Chanler’s veranda overlooking the ocean. Giving the bride a great excuse to wear her teal Hunter Boots for pictures, the snow only made pictures all the more beautiful. Even the cold couldn’t dampen the spirits of these newlyweds. They loved their day at The Chanler and can’t wait to go back for a one-year anniversary trip this March.

Congratulations Adrienne and Patrick!
